Rancho Cucamonga Misdemeanor Attorney Who Knows Both Sides
A misdemeanor conviction is a criminal record that can surface on background checks, prompt licensing board review, suspend a driver’s license, cost years of gun rights, and complicate immigration status. Many charges, however, can be resolved without a conviction.
A California misdemeanor is punishable by a fine, county jail, or both. Standard misdemeanors carry up to six months; aggravated ones carry up to 364 days, a limit that matters for immigration. Infractions bring only a fine, and wobblers can be filed as misdemeanors or felonies.
Rancho Cucamonga contracts with the County Sheriff for policing, while Upland, Ontario, Montclair and Chino have city police. Many misdemeanor arrests end in a citation rather than booking; when booking occurs, it is typically at West Valley Detention Center. Cases from Rancho Cucamonga, Alta Loma, Etiwanda, Upland, Ontario, Montclair, Chino and Chino Hills are generally heard at the Rancho Cucamonga Courthouse on Haven Avenue and prosecuted by the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office.
